Arlingtron

  • N Barton St Arlington, VA - Lyon Park
Phone, cable, FIOS. Who knows. Wires hanging off pole and dangling in crosswalk. Hazardous to pedestrians and vehicles.
  • Central Ave Kettering, MD - Lake Arbor
Early signs directing drivers heading west on Central Ave. to beltway south do not let drivers know it's actually a left turn.
  • George Washington Memorial Pkwy & U.S. Highway 1 Arlington, VA - Arlington
Excellent new bike path access routes under the replaced Humpback Bridge. Sadly the route on the south west side hits a dead end. It would be good to continue to the Pentagon and new Long Bridge Park. Probably jurisdictional issues between VDOT, DOD, Arlington, US Park Service, WMATA, FAA, blah, blah. Until complete please post sign indicating dead end.
  • 2400 Arlington Blvd Arlington, VA - Arlington
Any major rainfall creates a pond in the left lane under this newly replaced bridge on southbound and northbound sides of Washington Blvd. Surprised that better stormwater management was not a part of the project.
  • 724 N. Barton St. Arlington, VA - Lyon Park
A fiber optic cable is broken, hanging into street. Appears to have been connected from a utility pole near this address to house at 729. Now it's just waiting to get snagged by a bus or bicyclist.
  • 4 Mile Run Trail Arlington, VA 22206, USA - Arlington Ridge
A rapidly growing bush limits the view of bicyclists on this curve on the bike path just east of the Mt. Vernon Ave underpass. Many eastbound riders take this curve too tight and twice have nearly collided with me riding in the opposite direction. I suggest trimming the vegetation to below 36" or moving the bush altogether.
  • 1500-1598 N Wayne St Arlington, VA 22201, USA - Clarendon-Courthouse
Not sure how to interpret this sign.
  • Henry G Shirley Memorial Hwy Arlington, VA 22204, USA - Arlington
Crossover from HOV lanes to regular southbound lanes on 395 ends without warning. No sign, no short dashed lines, nothing. You are just suddenly in the same lane with other cars on a curve.
  • No merge area Archived
Interstate 95 & Telegraph Rd Alexandria, VA 22314, USA - Eisenhower Ave
There is no merge area when entering west I-495 from south Telegraph Road. Area is under construction and using temporary ramps but signs do no warn about total lack of an acceleration lane. Perhaps a full stop sign rather than simple yield until final ramps are complete.
  • S Washington Blvd Arlington, VA 22204, USA - Foxcroft Heights
Left lane gets slightly wider than markings simply stop forcing a sudden merge with adjacent lane on a curve. There are two signs but vehicles entering from I-395 south don't see these warnings. These drivers may be seeking same lane as those coming from I-395 north if they are not heading east on Columbia Pike.
  • National Harbor Blvd & Interstate 95 Fort Washington, MD 20745, USA - US Congressional District MD4
Nice bike trail pavement ends here. Surface to National Harbor is loose shells unsuitable for many road bike tires.
  • 5561-5699 State Highway 244 Arlington, VA 22204, USA - US Congressional District VA8
Westbound at the peak of evening rush drivers finally leave one intersection only to face a red light at the next. Not suitable for a smooth flow. All lights from Four Mile Run Dr to Leesburg Pike need to be properly timed.
  • 168-298 Pendleton St Alexandria, VA 22314, USA - Old Town
Chronic occurrence where huge piles of loose trash put on curb without trash cans. Recent wind storm spread this trash around several blocks.
  • U.S. 50 Arlington, VA 22204, USA - Arlington Forest
This crosswalk is not lit with a nearby streetlight. Saw a pedestrian almost struck by turning vehicle. Other crosswalks nearby have suitable lighting.
  • 3534 Wheeler Ave Alexandria, VA 22304, USA - Seminary Hill
A partially filled trench from recent utility work does not come up to the level of the existing pavement. Drivers avoiding the hole are dangerously swerving into the oncoming lane regardless of opposing traffic.
  • 6625 S. Van Dorn St. Franconia, VA - Franconia
The center left turn lane has a green arrow that points to the right.
  • Jay walkers Archived
1500 N. Barton St. Arlington, VA - Lyon Village
Barton St. and Franklin Rd. are combined on the north side of this intersection. The crosswalk signals must be too far away for pedestrians to understand they are meant for them. Many times when driving on my green light I have avoided oblivious people (most working their mobile phones) carelessly strolling against their light totally unaware of cars heading towards them. Not sure of solution other than a signal with a loudspeaker screeching "wait or die" if their light is red.
  • 4501 N. Fairfax Dr. Arlington, VA - Ballston
The light timing is based on a fixed schedule and not by vehicle presence. Works OK for much of the day but not during lighter loads where one has to wait too long for nobody to get a green light.
  • 1150 15th St Nw Washington, DC - Downtown
Not every gripe has an address. Having the ability to point and click the exact position without entering an address would be very useful.
  • 2960 Fairview Park Dr Falls Church, VA - Jefferson
On beltway actually (need capability to point click location of gripe). Issue: for years there are two choices to go from north 495 to west 66. The right lane choice is not well "advertised" and eager and panicked drivers (especially those entering from route 50) wildly swerve across four lanes to get to the left ramp when the right one is easy and not as dangerous to reach. Perhaps the left ramp should be closed? At least the signs for the left ramp should only be seen by those driving north on 495 BEFORE route 50.
