Description
The sign in the middle of the crosswalk (see photo) has been tattered for some time, and now it's off it's post.
Please replace our crosswalk signs (there's another in front of the Italian Store), and the signs on the pole.
Our crosswalk has proven very effective as a safe way to shop and in Westover. Many drivers speed through our neighborhood, this is also a good way to slow them down! Thank you!

However, someone hit it a few days later and the WB side is missing again. Are there any stronger signs?
Thanks again!

Dee, I think the reason the sign gets hit is because (I've seen it many times) people drive across the median strip to park in front of the Market.
Folks disregard the yellow stripes and drive right over them as if they were not there at all. The sign is strong enough, if people just learned how to drive and or our traffic laws..
If I were a police officer, on any Saturday I could hand out 10-15 tickets an hour to people that drive over the yellow lines to park on the other side. (Arlington PD. hint, hint)
I think I'll keep my phone handy when I head down that way so I don't miss a video opportunity of somebody driving over the yellow lines so I can post it here..
This @#$% me off greatly, because we have many elderly pedestrians, and at the same time, others that would rather break the roadway law(s) instead of being careful by driving/parking the correct way..

Thank you, Johan son of Erik, I agree. There are many children shopping and hanging out in front of the stores, too.
It cannot be argued that the speeding, lack of situational awareness and talking on the phone lead to this being a dangerous section of Washington Blvd. It is also true that we who use those two crosswalks correctly (getting the attention of the driver, making eye contact, and waving to thank them for stopping) reduces speeds and wakes them up. During the many, many times I use the crosswalks I've had very few drivers blow past me, and honestly they are mostly young drivers and people on the phone.
The county would make a lot of money fining these drivers!
